When most think about California Cabernet Sauvignon, “Napa” tends the first word that springs to mind. We beg to differ: Sonoma Cabs routinely rival Napa’s finest. With crisper acidity and rounder tannins, they’re leaner, more balanced, and better partners for a meal.

Like other Sonoma vintages, our Cabernet is beautifully balanced in a classic style. Bright right red cherry and deep, rich redcurrant notes are paired with mouthwatering acidity. Tannins are round and restrained with a hint of coffee and tobacco in structure. Underlying bright fruit and mellow tannins is the briariness of a blackberry bramble—just that hint of the vine that gives Cabernet its special varietal quality.

VINTAGE NOTES

California returned to more typical weather for 2016 with adequate rain. February was, however, warm and dry, encouraging early bud break; temperate summer conditions led to early harvest in many locations. As this vineyard is in a cool, wooded location, maturity came slowly and steadily, leading to a typical October harvest.

THE VINEYARD

Just northwest of the city of Sonoma, not far from the Sonoma Carneros, the vineyard is bordered by forest and a seasonal creek. A little cooler than neighboring properties, at just an acre, it matures slowly and more gracefully than many warmer locations.

FOOD PAIRINGS
